About Us

Family Respite Care of Nevada, originally established as the Northern Nevada R.A.V.E. Family Foundation, began its transformative journey in October 1995. This significant moment marked the commencement of a noble driven by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: to combat child abuse and neglect among children with special needs and disabilities.

Over the course of 28 years, our organization has flourished and adapted, continuously addressing the evolving needs of our community. While our foundation remains steadfast in our dedication to preventing child abuse and neglect, our scope has broadened to encompass the delivery of exceptional respite care services.

Our mission is to improve the well-being of families in Nevada by providing free respite care to caregivers who have children with special needs. This service is essential, offering caregivers a much-needed break from their responsibilities. Our respite care services cater to both young and adult children with developmental and physical disabilities, including autism, mental and behavioral challenges, as well as children in foster and adoptive care. Additionally, we extend our services to the traditionally developing siblings who reside in the home.
